MODDY

This is the name Jayden calls Jeff.  She used to call me "Damma" at times.  I think both are kind of  a cross between Mommy and Daddy, and Mamma and Dadda.  I think its really funny that she is 3 years old and she still calls him "Moddy."  She sometimes cuts it short and calls out, "Hey, Mod!!!!"

Silly stuff

  • Jayden came up with a new song tonight, as I was putting her to bed.  It went like this, "ohhhhh, Vagina!!!!!  Don't you cry for me!!!!  I come from Alabama with pee running down my leg!!!!!"
  • Yesterday, we were driving down the street. Jayden had her window down.  We heard two guys say, "hello, how are you?" Jeff and I had been talking. Jeff asked Jayden, "did you say hi to those guys?"  She said," no, dad! I said hey guys, what's up?"
  • Yesterday, we were running errands when Jeff's mom texted me to ask if we wanted to drop in for pizza. Jeff and I talked about it, and decided that we had too much to do to stop in.  Five minutes later, Jayden asked from the back seat, "where are we going?" Jeff told her that we were going to drive past a few homes that were for sale and then go home.  Jayden said, "WAIT, DAD!!!  DAD, you like pizza!  I like pizza!  YOU KNOW THIS GUYS!!!!!  Why aren't we going to Neenee's for pizza?"

The Ice Cream Snob

So.... We've been telling Jay that the ice cream truck sells really cheap ice cream.  There are several trucks a day that go by our home (wonderful city living). She always asks about getting ice cream. Sure, we probably should have came up with a better excuse...but hey...It worked! She started saying "oh there's that ice cream truck again with it's cheap ice cream" every time it would go by.  We thought it was so funny. Well....until the other day....Jay comes home from school and says,"Brady says he likes to get ice cream from the ice cream truck."  We held our breath, hoping that she didn't say anything to him about cheap ice cream.  Too bad. She continues, "I told him Yuck! Ice cream trucks sells really cheap ice cream, you should go to Mitchells'. They have the best ice cream".  I hope this kid didn't go home and tell his parents....and I hope the teacher didn't hear this conversation.  With my luck, the conversation probably took place during Cirlce Time with the entire class:(

Doctor's visit

Yesterday was Jay's 3 year check up.  Jay was excited to see her Doctor. She has a doctor coat, stethoscope, blood pressure kit at home that she likes to give "check ups". She loved that she knew exactly what the doctor was doing.  She kept asking "why is my doctor taking sooooooo long?"  She kept her gown on for approximately 30 seconds (just long enough to get a pic). She decided to wait for the doctor in her undies. That is no surprise. She loves to run around naked.  Her clothes come off as soon as she walks through the door everyday. This started before she was one when she figured how to unzip her pjs.  So, she weighed in at 34 pounds (25th percentile) and is 37 inches tall (50th percentile).  The doc says she has gained 6 pounds over the past year. This is probably because we give her whole milk (according to the doctor). She advises to start her on low fat. The problem we have is that studies shown that whole milk is better for kids because it has more DHA (brain food) and doesn't go through the processing that low fat milk does. The doc asked a ton of questions, and we told her about her new daycare. She advised that we make sure she is moved up (advanced) to an older class when she is ready. What parent doesn't want to hear that?  We are comfortable with her just being of average intelligence.  However, I felt really excited that the doctor thought that she was somewhat advanced. Its just nice to know as parents, at least we are doing something right!

Jayden Bailey

This blog is dedicated to my beautiful daughter, Jayden. She turned 3 years old last April. Her baby book ended at her 3rd birthday.  I guess I don't have a baby anymore.  I have a 3 year old......can I even call her a toddler anymore? I think she is formally a "preschooler." Geesh!!!!! How time flies! Anyways, I am starting this blog to kind of pick up where the baby book ended.  Everyday she changes. She grows. She learns new words. She analyzes things differently. And oh! the things that come out of that mouth! The funny things she says and does! I treasure these things, and want to get them documented. In this technical world, what better place than a blog? I actually got this idea from a friend who has an amazing blog. I loved the idea. I am excited to get started with this. I have only been meaning to do this for months now!
